Materials recycler International Recycling has been bought by Rotterdam-based recycler Ciparo BV for an undisclosed sum.
International Recycling has worked with Ciparo, which has offices in China and Vietnam, for a few years. The acquisition was agreed following the exit of two of the main shareholders in the company.
Ciparo director and co-founder Joris de Caluwe said: “We see that the paper and plastics market is changing. Competition is growing, and bundling our strengths is the right way forward.’’
According to business development manager Scott George, the move “is a natural progression for the company.” He added: “We will continue trading as we have been doing for years.
“The structure of the business will be strengthened because Ciparo will give us a better footing in the market. We do lots of business in paper and plastic, so with its offices in China and Vietnam Ciparo will provide an excellent link to those markets. Having people in that market where the material is being exported to always makes things easier.”
Looking ahead there are no current plans to expand the business
